Dr. Richard Reed, a Joplin dentist, lost his office and equipment in the May 22 tornado.
On Monday, his 34-year-old practice was up and running in a new office space.
But a big boost for Reed came via a program created long before the EF-5 tornado hit Joplin. He was able to buy and renovate his new office building on 20th Street with a $650,000 Missouri Linked Deposit Program loan. He worked with a local bank and the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office to receive the low-interest loan.
