05-31-2013 | State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) announced today the MOST 529 Matching Grant Program* will be accepting applications starting June 1, 2013. The applications must be postmarked no later than June 30, 2013 to be eligible for consideration. The program awards qualified Missouri college savers a dollar-for-dollar match on their 2013 contributions to a MOST 529 account, up to $500. Approximately $125,000 in MOST 529 Matching Grant Program funds is available this year on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Saving for college can be overwhelming and every little bit helps,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “The MOST 529 Matching Grant Program helps Missouri families save a little more for the higher education of Missouri’s children.” Read More
| 05-21-2013 | State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) joined Jewish Federation of St. Louis President Andrew Rehfeld and Jewish Federation members today to announce that the Jewish Federation has partnered with him as part of the Older Missourian Education Initiative. This initiative is aimed at helping older Missourians with Unclaimed Property claims and management. Treasurer Zweifel is also warning older Missourians to be cautious of scams involving Unclaimed Property.
“Older Missourians face many challenges – finances, medical issues, caring for aging parents or spouses and more,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “My job as State Treasurer is to not only protect taxpayer dollars but also return Unclaimed Property to those who own it. My partnership with the Jewish Federation of St. Louis allows me to reach even more Missourians.” Read More
| 05-02-2013 | State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) today thanked both chambers of the Missouri General Assembly for passing the Military Medal Return Bill yesterday. Treasurer Zweifel holds 89 military medals in Unclaimed Property, and this bill will help him return these medals to the veterans who earned them. The Military Medal Return Bill, sponsored by Representative Vicki Englund in the House and handled by Senator Dan Brown in the Senate, passed each chamber unanimously and was given final approval as an amendment to SB 186. | 04-23-2013 | State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) issued a statement following today’s release of his video in support of the Missouri Nondiscrimination Act (MONA). The video may be viewed here.
“Today in Missouri, a worker can be fired just for being gay. This policy is not only unjust, but also makes bad economic sense. When it is legal to fire someone for being gay, even though they are a good worker, we prevent our economy from reaching its full potential and that hurts all of us. It is wrong to fire someone because of their race, gender or religion, and it is wrong to fire someone because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. | 03-14-2013 | State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) put on display some of the most interesting items in his Unclaimed Property vaults in Jefferson City today. The items were found in more than 1,000 new safe deposit boxes that have been turned over by law to Treasurer Zweifel since November. The safe deposit boxes are being opened and catalogued so their contents can be returned to their legal owners or heirs. A signed photo of Spencer Tracy, a St. Bernard-shaped nutcracker, antique tools and four Purple Hearts were among the items on display.

| 03-13-2013 | State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) announced his support for HB 702, which was heard in the House Veterans Committee today. House Bill 702 will give Treasurer Zweifel more options to help return military medals held in Unclaimed Property to their owners. Treasurer Zweifel is working with Representative Vicki Englund, the bill sponsor, to ensure military medals are returned to their rightful owners or their heirs as soon as possible. Legislators from both sides of the aisle, including every member of the House Veterans Committee, are co-sponsoring the effort. The bill was unanimously voted out of the committee. Read More

The “Excellent” audit rating earned by Treasurer Zweifel is the highest rating the Auditor gives, and is one of only nine “Excellent” audit ratings the Auditor has issued out of 290 audits conducted. Read More
| 03-07-2013 | State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful) announced today he has returned more than $1.4 million to five account owners since the beginning of January. Treasurer Zweifel currently holds nearly $700 million in Unclaimed Property for more than 4.3 million account owners, including 64 accounts with $100,000 or more. Since January 2009, Treasurer Zweifel has returned more than $140 million to more than 450,000 account owners. Read More
| 01-23-2013 | Marcella’s Mia Sorella, sister restaurant to Trattoria Marcella, has received a $250,000 low-interest Missouri Linked Deposit Program loan from State Treasurer Clint Zweifel (ZWY-ful). The loan was used to purchase furniture, fixtures, machinery and capital for the new restaurant. It will save the business an estimated $20,000 over the next five years should it choose to take out loans for that period.
